Psychology Externs

We are seeking motivated and compassionate doctoral-level psychology students to join our clinic as externs. This externship provides an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands-on clinical experience in a community behavioral health setting. Externs will work with child, adolescent and adult patients with complex psychopathologies. They will provide individual & family therapy, complete intake assessments, conduct full-battery psychological evaluations, and have the opportunity to co-lead a group. In addition, externs will attend weekly didactics, a process group, and individual & group supervision. All clinical activities will be supervised by a licensed psychologist and additional administrative supervision and support will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an APA-accredited doctoral program in Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.).
  • At least 2 years of completed doctoral studies.
  • xperience with conducting comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations (cognitive, academic, socioemotional, personality).
  • Strong interest in community behavioral health and working with underserved populations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to engage in in-person and telehealth service provision.
  • Required to attend externship on Monday's, 2nd day is flexible based on trainee schedule.
  • Ability to comply with clinic policies and ethical guidelines, including contemporaneous documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy for 6-10 patients of diverse backgrounds with a wide range of behavioral health concerns, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, trauma, and personality disorders.
  • Participate in weekly group and individual supervision, didactic seminars, and extern process group.
  • Conduct at least 1 comprehensive psychological assessment.
  • Complete weekly intakes and rapid diagnostic assessments.
  • Engage in treatment planning for new and ongoing patients.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including social workers, psychiatrists, and other clinicians, to provide coordinated care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation of patient progress, treatment plans, and assessments in compliance with agency policies and regulations.
  • Ensure ethical and culturally competent practice, maintaining sensitivity to the diverse needs of the community we serve.
